Prescott Valley Public Library will be hosting a program on Seed Starting for Success in partnership with Yavapai County Master Gardeners on Thursday, March 27th, 2025, from 5:30 to 6:45 pm. We are excited to welcome you to this class, where we will learn about seed germination. Seed germination is the process by which a seed awakens from dormancy and begins to grow into a seedling. Gardening in Arizona’s high desert presents unique challenges, but with the right techniques, you can set your seeds up for success! Topics covered: • Why starting seeds indoors is essential for AZ’s high desert climate. • Discover tips for selecting seeds that thrive in Zone 7. • Master the four key factors for germination success: moisture, temperature, light, and airflow. • Techniques for tough seeds like scarification and stratification • Starting seeds that don’t transplant well and transitioning seedlings outdoors. • Avoid common mistakes and troubleshoot challenges with expert solutions. Presenter: Laurin Pause Laurin became a Master Gardener in 2019 and has served as the Speakers Bureau Chair for the past two years. She is an avid backyard gardener, applying the information gained to all aspects of caring for her yard and that of her community and promoting good stewardship of our environment.
