Prescott Valley Public Library will be handing out Solar Eclipse in a Bag Kits on Monday, October 2nd, 2023, from 2:30-4:30 pm. On Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, the annular solar eclipse will cross North, Central, and South America. It will be visible as it crosses the sky from Oregon to Texas. The eclipse will pass 29 national park units as it makes its way across Oregon, California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and Texas. Annular solar eclipses actually get their name from a ring of bright sunlight, or annulus. This “Ring of Fire” is visible around the moon during the maximum phase of this type of eclipse. The next annular eclipse will be October 2041. Come on in and pick up an informational and interactive kit. Each bag contains a pair of solar eclipse glasses, pinhole eclipse viewer, solar craft, and eclipse resources. One bag per family while supplies last.
