Hosted jointly by the Yavapai College SBDC, SCORE, Laura J. Hamblin, Employment Law Attorney, and the Coconino SBDC, this will be an interactive discussion about the impact the new minimum wage increase can have on small businesses. A particular focus of the discussion will be on the domino effect this may have beyond just the salary increase for minimum wage staff. Issues that come into play are wage compression, employment tax increases, vacation and health care costs, and family leave costs, as well as budgeting for the next three years. Deeper dives into planning and budgeting will follow in subsequent conversations. Here are two initial discussion questions to consider beforehand: • What are the changes you will make from a budget/financial standpoint? • Do you have additional thoughts or consideration on the upcoming change given the existing impacts of COVID on your business?
