Prescott Valley Public Library – New Event – Cyber Security, Unmasking the Internet and Basic Internet Security, Prescott Valley Public Library Adult Services Department, January 23rd & 30th, 2024.
Prescott Valley Public Library will be hosting Cyber Security, Unmasking the Internet and Your Basic Security for a two-week class series on January 23rd & 30th, 2024, from 5:00-6:45 pm. Class one will be: How Does the Internet Work? Do you want to gain a better understanding of how the Internet works? This is a 1-hour introduction to how the internet is structured and how devices communicate. We will walk through how devices communicate and connect to each other and to the internet in basic terms so that we can understand how things on the internet are found. This will also help us understand why certain things work the way they do on the internet and how to fix them when they don’t. Class two will be Basic Internet Security. As a follow-up to our first class, now that we understand how the internet works and how networks operate, we can better understand how security on the internet works. Do you want to understand how to secure your home network and protect yourself online? Do you want to understand what two factory authentication is, what a VPN does, and why it is easy for criminals to hide on the internet and hard for law enforcement to find them? Come with your questions for this 1-hour class. Speaker: Det. Philip Muchnik has been a Law Enforcement Officer for 18 years and has spent the last nine years as a Detective and Digital Forensic Examiner, investigating cyber and internet crimes. Det.
