Prescott Valley Public Library – New Event – January 3rd, 2024, Prescott Valley Creative Writing-Supporting Characters, Pre-registration required – Limited Seating
Join us this month while we delve into the setting of your stories. Setting grounds your writing in the reality of place and depicts the theme of your story through powerful metaphor. Without setting, characters are simply there, in a vacuum, with no reason to act and most importantly, no reason to care. Without a place there is no story. It can help set the mood, influence the way characters behave, affect the dialog, foreshadow events, invoke an emotional response, reflect the society in which the characters live, and sometimes even plays a part in the story. We will perform written exercises in order to develop setting. Join us on Thursdays, January 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th, 2024, from 12-2 pm. We will develop and learn how to incorporate setting in your story to add depth to support your characters and plot. Registration is for a 4-week class series. 1st class: Thursday, January 3rd, 2024 Class will meet on Thursdays, January 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th, 2024, Time: 12:00-2:00 pm 2nd Floor PC Lab Space is limited.
